Vice Governor Agnes A. Magpale led the induction of the new set of officers of the Barangay Health Workers’ (BHWs) Association of Cebu Province during the Health and Wellness Day at the Capitol Social Hall last August 2.
She expressed how BHWs inspire her as they “work the extra mile, beyond what is expected of them.”
“That’s not plain job anymore. That’s what you call commitment and that is what you BHWs have. They said I’m to give an inspirational message. Actually, I draw my inspiration from all of you,” said Magpale.
She encouraged BHW leaders to urge their association to continue their zealous performance even under the leadership of new barangay chiefs regardless of political affiliation.
She pledged support for any innovations their barangay leaders may have in mind to improve their communities with the help of the BHWs.
Magpale thanked both the incoming and outgoing leadership of the barangay health workers for their hard work and dedication to their responsibilities.
Barangay health workers were then given emergency health kits from Gerry Roxas Foundation consisted of thermometers, bandages and cottons, among others.
Health and Wellness Day is one of the highlights of Cebu Province’s 447th Founding Anniversary celebration to serve colleagues in government service.
Hundreds of Cebu Provincial Capitol employees benefitted from the free medical services.
Services include blood cholesterol check, blood sugar check, and medical consultation for various ailments, massage therapy, nutrition counseling as well as vitamins and other medicines. (Fides Palicte)
