LP welcomes new members from Mandaue

Governor Hilario P. Davide III swore in seven new Liberal Party (LP) members from Mandaue City last Oct. 12 at the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

They will be running for various elective posts in the 2016 elections. Former Mandaue City Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna will run for the same post again as running mate of mayoralty candidate, incumbent 6th district Congressman Luigi Quisumbing.

The other new LP members are eyeing seats in the city council as all but three city councilors will end their term in 2016. They are Marvin Soco, Carmelino Del Mar, Kabankalan Barangay Captain Cynthia Remedio, Nilo Seno, Canduman Barangay Captain Leo Jabas, and Looc Barangay Councilor Raul Cabahug, son of incumbent City Councilor Edita Cabahug.

Quisumbing and Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes whose term will expire next year also formally announced their respective candidacies. Cortes seeks the Congressional seat.

The incumbents Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glen Bercede and Consolacion Municipal Councilor Julius Alegado complete the slate of LP in the 6th district as Provincial Board candidates. The group will file their Certificates of Candidacy on Oct.13.

Davide and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale will also seek reelection in next year’s polls.
