Second-termer League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Cebu President Democrito Diamante urged members of LMP not to hesitate in seeking help from him.
Tuburan town Mayor Diamante said he considered himself a servant. He even reminded his fellow mayors of his role by lifting a quote from the Bible.
“If you wanted to be the first, you have to be the last. I am your president but I am your servant,” Diamante said.
During LMP’s oath-taking ceremony, Diamante pointed out that in his previous term, the group was united despite differences in political affiliations. He said that unity is important in serving their constituents.
“I appeal again to the mayors to transcend political boundaries and work together for the welfare of the people in the Province,” said Diamante.
He also called for his colleagues to rally support for the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte especially on his campaign against illegal drugs.
Diamante added that under his new leadership, he plans to espouse the motto “The will to serve” as bedrock of LMP.
Moreover, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale shared her sentiments about how painful it is to be in government these days when the trust of the people is eroded because of anomalies involving some public servants.
“I know we have done our best. I’m happy that you chose the theme ‘The will to serve’ despite the prevailing circumstances. We can all manage to bloom in spite of the murky water where we float – that is politics,” she said.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III assured the organization that the provincial government is right behind them.
Other LMP officers include Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado (vice president-internal), Dalaguete Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante (vice president-external), San Fernando Mayor Lakambini Reluya (secretary), San Remigio Mayor Mariano Martinez (treasurer), Cordova Mayor Mary Therese Cho (auditor), Medellin Mayor Joven Mondigo Jr. (legal counsel) and Dumanjug Mayor Efren Guntrano Gica (PRO).
