The Legislative Department was declared the overall champion after garnering 188 points from the recently-concluded Capitol Sportsfest.
The Legislators consistently figures in the top three, which secured them the title as defending champions. They gathered big points in the track and field events and Pinoy Games during the opening day of the Sportsfest last May 29.
The race to the top was very close. The Legislators won 16.5 points ahead of the Service Planners.
The Service Planners, which was comprised of the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO) and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), grabbed the second spot with 172.5 points.
The second placer collected convincing points from basketball (female category), badminton (male category), scrabble and table tennis (male category).
Meanwhile, the Financiers harvested 166 points to claim the third spot in the overall standings.
The Financiers was comprised of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office and Provincial Accountant’s Office.
The Builders with 129.5 points grabbed fourth place, the Executives registered 116 points for the fifth place, AgriMeds recorded 83 points for sixth place and Jailers with 69 points, seventh place in the overall standing.
On the other hand, the men’s team for volleyball from the Executives defended its title by sweeping the best of three games against the Jailers.
Alphaeus Legarte of the Information and Communication Technology Office was declared the most outstanding player for volleyball (male category).
During the awarding ceremony last August 6, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale thanked all the employees for doing their best and for displaying sportsmanship beyond intense competition.
