On May 20, 350 barangay volunteer workers in Ronda received their cash incentives for 2013. Mayor Mariano Blanco III and other officials were present to welcome the provincial officials and witness the affair.
The 105 barangay health workers, 18 day care center workers, 14 barangay nutrition scholars and 213 barangay tanods gathered at the municipal covered court and applauded provincial officials who delivered inspiring messages.
Provincial Board members Christopher Baricuatro and Peter John Calderon urged the barangay volunteers to use the money for their respective families’ needs, especially with the start of the new school year.
Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale explained that the province still had to comply with the requirements of the Commission on Audit for the legal basis of the financial assistance before the province can finally distribute the incentives.
In addition, those in the northern part of the province who suffered the wrath of super Typhoon Yolanda were also prioritized, thus the delay. Another round of applause echoed when Magpale said that the province will exert efforts to distribute the incentives for 2014 in December.
Meanwhile, Gov. Junjun Davide III’s announcement for the enrolment of the barangay volunteers and officials, including the secretary and treasurer, in the Philhealth program was also cheered on.
He reiterated the request for the assistance to be used wisely by the recipients while the province looks for ways to give what is due to them for their dedication to deliver services to the constituents.
