A part of the weeklong celebration of the 444th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Cebu, the event was held at the Capitol Social Hall on 02 August 2013.

Aside from free medical consultations from local physicians, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) also offered free medical and laboratory tests, which included, blood pressure monitoring, EKG testing, RBS, cholesterol test, urinalysis, bone density screening and dental examination. The first 50 employees who availed of free dental services also received free dental kits as an extra. The PHO pharmacy also gave out free multivitamins and other medicine to the employees.

Alternative medical therapy was also available for those who opted for traditional medication. The Center for Traditional and Alternative Medicine (CTAM) offered services such as detoxification and free use of its R.I.F.E. Energy healing device. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) also provided free half-body massages.

During the same event, the Regional Blood Center VII (RBC) also conducted its yearly Mass Blood Donation. Governor Hilario Davide III was among those qualified as a blood donor. To be a blood donor, one must be in good health, between 16 to 65 years old, at least 110 pounds, with normal blood pressure, and with no history of hypertension.

Dr. Manuel Purog of PHO gave a favorable evaluation of the overall health condition of the Capitol employees. He said that the PHO’s assessment revealed no serious or alarming illnesses. However, he emphasized the need for the employees to undergo periodic medical examinations, and to monitor their diet, especially for those diagnosed with elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol count and blood sugar levels.
