Torrid hardcourt actions in the Governor’s Cup 2017 Cebu Provincial Government Inter-cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament resume today in separate venues.

At least six games will be played tonight with six teams get their baptism of fire at the Carmen gym for the North Division while another six squads collide each other for the South.

In the first match, Balamban will face Danao City followed by the encounter between Borbon and Tuburan in the 6 p.m. tussle. Host Carmen will then try to capitalize on home-court advantage as it aims for its first win in the cash-rich tournament against Sogod in the main attraction.

In the South Division, Sibonga will square off with Argao in the opener while Naga City will take on Minglanilla in the second game. The triple-bill offering will be closed by the game featuring host Talisay City and San Fernando.

In tournament’s opening-day salvo last April 9 at the New Cebu Coliseum, Tudela and Samboan barged into the win column after pulling out hard-earned victories.

Tudela fended off Pilar, 54-57, before Samboan carved out a come-from-behind 78-75 win over Oslob.

A whopping P500,000 awaits the champion in the tournament aimed at honing the skills of cagers aged 21 years old and below as part of the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission’s grassroots program. Kelvin Cañizares/ photo by Edgar Florita
