Governor Hilario P. Davide III said a courtesy resignation would give him the free hand to choose his Capitol department heads.
This developed as the governor weighs the performances of the current batch of department heads in the last three (3) years.
“It is just a customary in any government office to give the head a free hand,” he told the media at the Capitol last May 17.
Gov. Davide allayed fears, amidst reports, that the affected heads of offices would be jobless should the governor accept their resignation. He said they have nothing to fear with the courtesy resignation “unless they did something wrong.”
The courtesy resignation was intended to support the governor in choosing his next batch of department heads after he was given afresh mandate in the last election.
“I think it is my prerogative pudtingalidiba? I thinkthey understand that,” he added.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Mark Tolentino and some department heads already offered their voluntary resignation. Tolentino’scontract is coterminous with the governor’s.
It was suggested for other department heads to voluntarily offer their courtesy resignations as well.
After the flag raising ceremony last Monday, Gov. Davide announced that there will be changes at the Capitol. He said it will be felt starting July 1.
