Before taking on a much-needed vacation after the grueling and stressful election period, Governor-elect Hilario Davide III met with the Capitol department heads, division chiefs, section heads and some consultants at the conference room of the office of Acting Governor Agnes Magpale on Monday, May 20. The meeting started at 10 a.m.
Even before the meeting can culminate, Davide went around the room shaking hands with everyone. He then announced that he would feel more comfortable when called by his nickname ‘Junjun.’
Acting Governor Magpale explained that the meeting was to orient the new governor-elect with the concerns that hound the Cebu Provincial Government especially on new projects like the one with Filinvest and the Carmen Bulkwater Project including those that lacked the concurrence of the Provincial Board.
Magpale also expressed her desire to go on a brief vacation before she will officially start another term as Vice Governor but her plan was overtaken by the vacation plan of the Governor-elect. She plans to pursue her plan though in order to recharge and be rejuvenated before July 1.
She also explained that the briefing on the Capitol concerns was in order for the Governor-elect to find ways to resolve them while in the comfort of his vacation.
Among the departments which were given special attention were the Treasurer’s Office, the Budget Office, the General Services Office, the Social Welfare and Development Office, the Planning and Development Office and the Environment and Natural Resources Office.
The meeting was concluded with a buffet lunch.
