Ginatilan’s mountain barangay gets a covered court plus med mission

The Cebu provincial government conducted medical and dental mission in Cagsing, a mountain barangay in Ginatilan town yesterday following the inaugural ceremony of their newly built covered court.

Governor Hilario Davide III and Vice governor Agnes Magpale led the inauguration along with 2nd district congressman Wilfredo Caminero and provincial board members Christopher Baricuatro and Peter John Calderon.

Nine kilometers from the national road and one of the outlying areas in Ginatilan, Barangay Cagsing with a population of less than 1,200 was first to have put up a covered court in their town.

The project started last March and primarily intended as evacuation center. It was built using the funds of the national government through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with a total budget of Php 1.8 million.

“First gyud ni nga covered court nga natukod sa tibook Ginatilan, samot nga first gyud mi sa mga barangay,” Barangay chief Marte Bacondajon said.

Caminero, who helped the town and provincial government secure the projects, said these are priority projects in compliance with the mandate of the government to hold a barangay assembly at least once a year.

Pleased

Residents were very pleased to have their own covered court which will be used for barangay activities or for provincial government initiated programs such as the medical/dental mission.

A total of 564 residents benefited from medical/dental mission program plus free haircut and feeding activity courtesy of Philippine Navy.

“Dako gyud kaayo namong kalipay aning multi-purpose building, kay dako man gyud ning ikatabang sa among barangay. Dili lang ni para sa mga sports activities o uban pang mga tapok-tapok sama niining medical mission, magamit pud kini para sa evacuation sa panahon nga adunay kalamidad. Gusto man gud namo, nga ang barangay functional gyud,” Bacondajon said.

Blessed

Bacondajon felt they are blessed by St. Perdo Calungsod because many projects have started to pour not just in their barangay but also in their neighboring areas.

Though Calungsud’s birthplace has yet to be established, Ginatilans believe that he is from their town.

“Para namo ang covered court, imposible gyud ni siya, karon nahimong possible. Aduna mi’y kalsada nga padung sa pinakahilit nga sitio, naghinay-hinay na pud sa pag construct sa kalsada pina-agi sa proyekto sa gobyerno.”

“Dako gyud kaayo mi pasalamat sa probinsiya sa sugbo, nga bisan diay among pagkagamay o pinakahilit, matagad gyud diay mi sa patas nga serbisyo”, Bacondajon added.
