Financial and burial assistance will be extended by the Provincial Government to the family of the 24-year-old woman who was beheaded by her common-law partner last Sunday, Oct. 8.
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale agreed to extend P20,000 financial assistance and P10,000 burial aid to the family of Lovely Jane Quiño.
Quiño was killed by her partner, Dominic Pahugot, 27, in their residence in Consolacion town. He was then shot by responding police officers after he reportedly tried to attack them.
Pahugot was in the police’s list of drug users and was just released from a mental facility.
Quiño’s mother, Loreabeth, went to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) last Tuesday, October 10 to get the list of requirements for the release of cash and burial assistance.
PSWDO head Marivic Garces said they are now preparing a letter request to Provincial Board (PB) member Christopher Baricuatro, chairman of the Committee on Public Health and Social Services, for the assistance.
Baricuatro, in a text message, said their resolution for the P20,000 financial assistance will be set for approval on Monday, Oct. 16, during the PB’s regular session.
Garces said the P10,000 burial assistance is part of the Aid to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The financial assistance is intended for the couple’s four children aged 5, 4, 3 and 4-months-old.
Also, Garces said they have initially turned over to the victim’s mother a sack of rice, a box of coffee, a box of noodles and 55 pieces of canned goods.
