Eight (8) hospitals in Cebu province are now upgraded into Level One. The hospitals can now perform a caesarian operation and other major surgical operations.
Laboratory examinations and other work up like ultra-sound, ECG, can now be done.
The licensing office of the Department of Health, Region 7 confirmed the accreditation status on the first week of April 2014.
Three of these are the Provincial Hospitals in Bogo, Danao, Carcar. The rest are the following 25-bed district hospitals: Tuburan, San Francisco, Camotes, Argao, Barili and Badian.
Provincial Health Office Chief Dr. Cynthia Genosolango said the upgrading’s goal is to deliver basic and specialized services to the people.
“We can deliver more, we can accept and treat a good number of patients kay naa naman mi technical capability with our consultants in place. The rest of the needed equipment will follow,” said Genosolango.
Having a level one health care facility is advantageous because of the improved health services benefitting the indigent residents of the province, Genosolango added.
She expressed that the upgrading of the eight hospitals would help the less fortunate and the PhilHealth program beneficiaries.
Circular 32 S-2013, also known as “Point-of-Care Enrollment program”, of Philhealth automatically enrolls non-members belonging to Class C3 or D confined in government hospitals. It would entitle them to benefits provided by Philhealth.
