As part of its mandate to promote the development of micro, small and medium enterprises, the Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and the Cebu Provincial Government has affirmed its support to the services of and programs of the Department of Trade and Industry.
In the opening ceremony of the Negosyo Konsyumer At Iba Pa Event at the Marco Polo Hotel, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) officially launched the Negosyo Center (NC), Co-Working Space (CWS) and Digital Fabrication Laboratory. This initiative is in partnership with the Cebu Provincial Government and the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu.
To create a nurturing environment for MSMEs, the Cebu Provincial Government provided a space at the Cebu Cultural Center in UP Cebu for the establishment of Negosyo Center and Co-Working Space (CWS).
The Negosyo Center is a hub designed to support existing and start-up small enterprises through general business advisory and capability development services. The CWS reduces the cost of opening and maintaining an office by providing a shared working environment for entrepreneurs. The facility complements the services of NC which is strategically located beside the NC.
The Governor acknowledged the significance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the national economic development. With over ninety-nine percent (99%) of the business establishments in the country, he believes that these MSMEs create greater impact to the lives of the people than the big players.
Such initiatives promote the ease of doing business and easy facilitation of services to the MSMEs, especially in the countryside areas. This provides an enabling environment for entrepreneurs for further growth and development.
DTI recognizes the Cebu Provincial Government as one of its active partners and collaborators in the successful implementation of DTI programs and services in Region 7. July Anne Guibone
