Just formally installed into office, Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes A. Magpale returned to Naga City last July 5 to express their gratitude to Nagahanons for being re-elected as governor and vice governor of the Province of Cebu.
Both Davide and Magpale credited their win to the leadership of former Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong.
“He is one of the few mayors who lived up to his word. Naka-deliver gyud (for Davide-Magpale win),” said Davide.
Magpale herself was impressed with Chiong’s leadership in Naga City. She expressed she could feel the people’s warmth.
Talking to the barangay officials of Naga City’s 28 barangays, Chiong took pride in the kind of friendship he shared with leaders like Davide and Magpale.
As public servants, he urged his fellow leaders to put the interests of constituents first before any personal interests and support other leaders who do the same.
For Chiong, victory is sweeter when their supported leaders also win.
Aside from expressing gratitude, Davide and Magpale visited Naga City to personally hear out the leaders’ concerns, plans and projects for their respective barangays.
The governor brought home with him a bundle of barangay resolutions of plans and projects for his consideration and approval. (Fides Palicte)
