Governor Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale took their oaths of office Thursday morning to kick off their second term in the Cebu Provincial Government.
Before a jam-packed crowd at the Capitol Social Hall, the province’s top two officials were sworn into office by Court of Appeals Associate Justice Japar Dimaampao.
The event was witnessed by their family members, supporters, officials of various government agencies, business sector as well as Capitol department heads and employees.
Before Gov. Davide took his oath, three members of the provincial board were sworn into office. They were Yolly Daan (1st district), Horacio Franco (4th district) and Jerome Librando and Christopher Baricuatro, both from the 7th district.
“I thank the Cebuanos for their renewed trust and confidence in me and in my indefatigable teammate Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale,” said Davide in his 24-minute speech.
“In 2013, we campaigned on the issue of good government. In 2016, we continue to believe that an honest, transparent, accountable, effective, efficient and sincere government is the backbone of real and sustainable progress,” he added.
Davide recalled that in the last election, the fruits of the six-key development agenda advanced by his administration were almost sidetracked by intense, malicious personal attacks on his administration.
“Ang gibalik balik nga issue mao nga ang Davide Administration walay nabuhat sa unang termino. Tinood wala kitay nabuhat nga pangurakot kay ato kanunay gihuna-huna nga kining atong pag serbisyo dili para sa atong kaugalingong pagpalambo kun dili pagpalambo sa atong gipang alagaran,” he said.
The governor also presented some of the accomplishments his administration has achieved in the last three years as well as the projects and programs he wished to pursue.
Davide ended his speech, thanking his family, the Davides and Angans, especially his wife Jobel and his three daughters Paje, Dia and Nina.
