Davide invited to visit Saint Petersburg

Russian Governor Georgy Poltavchenko has invited Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III to visit Saint Petersburg.

This is pursuant to the sisterhood pact executed by the two governments in 2009 by their predecessors.

Poltavchenko became governor of Saint Petersburg in 2010 while Gov. Davide has just assumed office last June 30.

Philippine Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation Army Lopez-Garcia hand-carried the invitation letter to Davide last May 23 at the Capitol.

The trip is scheduled this June. But it could be rescheduled to September or October as Davide asked for more time to plan the agenda of the trip.

Consul Garcia said the bilateral cooperation would benefit Cebu’s tourism industry.

“Cebu is a favorite tourism destination of the Russians,” she said.

Moreover, she said the Russians are also interested to hire Cebuano health workers to man their hospitals.
