Governor Hilario P. Davide III, along with two other governors in the Central Visayas, was nominated as chairman of the Regional Development Council (RDC) during its special organizational meeting on Tuesday.
Gov. Edgar Chatto of Bohol, the outgoing chairman of the RDC, and Gov. Zaldy Villa of Siquijor, also got endorsements.
Aside from government officials, three of the 13 new representatives of the private sector were also nominated.
Two of the three are from Cebu namely William Liu and renowned industrial designer Kenneth Cobonpue. The other candidate was Argeo Melisimo of Bohol.
The list of nominees will be submitted to Malacañang from which President Rodrigo Duterte will pick his choice.
Meanwhile, the 13 new private sector representatives from the provinces of Bohol, Siquijor and Cebu took their oath of office.
They are Elinard Ympal, Arthur Chan of Siquijor; Evelyn Nacario-Castro, Andres Muego, William Liu, Glenn Socco, Melanie Ng and Kenneth Cobonpue of Cebu; Panfilo Asares, Argeo Melisimo and Emmie Roslinda of Bohol. The two remaining seats will have to be filled in by the basic and labor sectors. (Kelvin Cañizares)
