CPADAO awards 110 cops, gives incentive

The Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Abuse Office (CPADAO) awarded about 110 commendable police operatives of Cebu province for its hard work in stopping illegal drugs conducted in the second quarter of this year.

CPADAO Chief Ivy Durano-Meca said the incentives serve as a modest gesture from the provincial government for the policemen’s effort in making effective law enforcement against the illicit drug trade conducted from April to June this year.

“We are very happy to give these incentives to you as a modest gesture of recognizing your efforts in making our province peaceful and drug-free,” she expressed.

During the awarding ceremony held in the Capitol Social Hall last Oct. 7, more than 110 police officers from seven police stations of the province, including operatives from the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) received incentives worth P1.1 million.

As to how much was given to each policeman was not disclosed. However, Meca hinted that the amount given depends on the nature of operation conducted.

Under Sugbo Kontra Droga(SUKOD) program, CPADAO employs point system for specific performance indicators. Evaluation and assessment are conducted by member agencies and validated by non-government organizations who will also aid CPDAO in granting awards and recognitions.

SUKOD is a province-wide year-long campaign of CPADAO to persuade local government units to perform their functions under the law such as increasing awareness against the effects of drugs.

The awardees, according to Meca, played a vital role in the arrest of drug pushers and confiscation of drugs in their buy-bust operations.

In giving these awards, we believe we are implementing this agenda of this administration and we would like to show that we are committed to implement such program in collaboration with the police agencies, she added.

Governor Hilario P. Davide III told officers he made it a priority to launch a relentless drive against illegal drugs and this prioritization is a part of his six-star agenda in the provincial government.

“The provincial government is all out in support for the PNP and this afternoon’s event highlights the continued support and commitment to the PNP of the province in the fight against illegal drugs,”he said during the awarding ceremony.

Cebu Provincial Police Director Police Senior Supt. Eric Noble said that in 30 years, this is the first time a governor awarded the police force for its performance.

In behalf of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) kami ay nagpapasalamat sa inyong pagmamahal sa ating kapulisan,” expressed Noble.

Davide recently received a citation from the Duterte administration for its performance in the anti-illegal drugs campaign. (Chad Cordova Bacolod)
