On August 1, Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III formally opened the province’s celebration of its 444th Founding Anniversary.
Among those present during the formal opening were mayors of the different cities and municipalities of the province and the provincial board members.
Gov. Davide thanked his visitors and acknowledged them one by one. In his speech, he spoke of paying homage to the rich history of the Cebu as oldest province in the country.
A flag raising ceremony kick-started the celebration, after which, the Governor proceeded to grace the formal opening of the 2013 Agro Trade Fair, an exhibition of various delicacies and farm products coming from the towns and component cities of the Cebu Province.
The Governor then signed a Memorandum of Agreement between the province of Cebu and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. for the fifth season of the Our Cebu program.
Other activities for the 444th Founding Anniversary include, blood letting, blood typing, and urinalysis during the Health and Wellness Day, as well as free legal counseling.
On August 7, there will be a Gabii sa Sugbo, a dinner hosted by the governor with the vice governor, provincial board members, local chief executives, diplomatic corps and ARENA 7 members. (Xerxes Alkuino)
