Cebu Provincial Government recognizes their scholar-graduates

Twenty-one college scholar-graduates of Cebu Provincial Valedictorian-Scholarship Program were recognized on April 26, 2013 at Cebu Capitol Social Hall. They were the first batch of the program: 9 from Cebu Normal University and 12 from Cebu Technical University. Among the 21 graduates, 13 were cum laude and 1 was magna cum laude.

Joji Mar P. Sanchez, the magna cum laude graduate from Cebu Normal University, was very happy that finally his toils had born a sweet fruit: he finally graduated with flying colors. And he was very thankful to the Cebu Provincial Government for giving him the opportunity in reaching his dreams.

“I’m really grateful that I was given the privilege of being a scholar of the Province of Cebu, and with that they really prioritize education and the youth,” he said.
Sanchez said that his sister and his secondary school teachers were the ones who really pushed him in pursuing his dreams and never gave up.

His mother Narcissa Sanchez was also very thankful for Cebu Provincial Government.”Nalipay kong nahatagan siya ug scholarship. Dako kayo kog pasalamat sa Cebu Province kay nakahuman jud siya ug eskwela,” she said.

All scholars were awarded with certificates of recognition and received five thousand pesos while cash incentives were handed to the ones with outstanding achievements. Each scholar who graduated as cum laude was given ten thousand pesos and the sole magna cum laude was given twenty thousand pesos.

When asked for his message to other students who aspire to be like him, Joji Mar P. Sanchez said, “If I can do it, then you also can.”
