The Cebu Provincial Government turned over a community latrine facility to the beneficiaries in Barangay Gaas, Balamban, Cebu last August 26.

Representing on behalf of her husband Governor Hilario P. Davide III, Mrs. Jobel Angan-Davide led the ceremony with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Baltazar S. Tribunalo, Provincial Health Office (PHO) head, Dr. Niño Ismael Pastor and Gaas Barangay Captain William D. Genel.

The facility was constructed by the Rise and Build International Foundation under the initiative of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) and the Cebu Province.

Mrs. Davide expressed her gratitude to the foundation and advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the facility.

“In behalf of the Governor and Vice Governor Agnes A. Magpale, we would like to thank you for this project. It strengthens the private-public partnership with the province and Latter Day Saints. Thank you, thank you. And to the beneficiaries, please take care of the latrine so the community can use it for a long time,” she expressed.

Rey Godson of the Latter Day Saints presented the goal and the plan of the LDS for the people.

“It is our goal to improve the quality of life of the Filipino people, and we plan to build a hundred more,” said Godson.

A community-managed latrine has the same technical similarities to individual latrines. Community latrines are larger and serve greater number of users.

The Rise and Build International Foundation is one of the many foundations who helped the Province since the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda. It has donated different projects around the countryside. (Chad Bacolod)
