Instead of having a party, the employees opted to share their party allowance to the people who were affected by the super typhoon Yolanda. The spirit of Christmas, after all, is all about sharing.
The children received milk, assorted candies, biscuits and toys while the Senior Citizens and Persons With Disabilities (PWD’s) received assorted relief assistance. Aside from food packs, shirts, underwear and blankets were also distributed to families who needed it most.
The distribution of gifts had its launch in the municipality of Tudela, Camotes. Around 1500 children received goodies while 66 PWD’s and 1000 Senior Citizens were also given gifts from the Capitol.
Aside from the gift giving, Tudela also inaugurated the relocation site for the typhoon victims. The site is in Sitio Fatima, Barangay General, which will also be occupied by typhoon victims from barangay Southern Poblacion.
Governor Hilario Davide III, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, PB Member Jude Thaddeus Sybico, Mayor Erwin Yu and Tudela’s town councilors witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony.
According to Mayor Yu, said they have included the amount of 500 thousand pesos in their 2014 annual budget to purchase the lot for the new relocation site.
Governor Davide appreciated the effort of the officials in Tudela. “Bulahan kamo nga adunay maabtik nga mayor “, he said.
Typhoon victims from the three towns in Bantayan Island also received gift packs from the Cebu Provincial Government.
Governor Hilario Davide III, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, PB Jose Ribomapil Holganza, Department Heads and some Capitol employees attended the December 10 gift giving in Sta. Fe, Bantayan and Madridejos towns in Bantayan Island.
Sta. Fe Mayor Jose Esgana thanked the Cebu Provincial Government for its support for his town.
“Mapasalamaton kaayo ta sa Cebu Provincial Government, ngadto kang Governor Davide ug Vice Governor Agnes Magpale nga nagpakita sa ilang pagtabang. Magpasalamat kita sa Ginoo ug makabarug gihapon ta bisan pa man sa katalagman nga niabot” Esgana added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Salvador Dela Fuente of Madridejos admired the Governor and Vice Governor for being generous in its help. Madridejos received two million pesos financial assistance, a generator for its water system and food packs for the residents.
“Salamat sa Cebu Provincial Government sa gihatag nga pinaskuhan ug mag-ampo ako nga makarecover dayon” said Rosalie Villaceran, 67, a resident of Talangnan, Madridejos.
The 1100 students of Madridejos Central School expressed happiness on the blessings and early Christmas gifts received from the Capitol.
In Bogo City, 1500 children availed of the gift packs while 500 families got a 1.5 liter bottle of Coca Cola for each family. Hundreds of shirts, blankets and underwear were also given out.
Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, PB Member Dong Baricuatro, Provicial Health Office Staff, and Mayor Celestino Martinez Jr. assisted the mayor’s staff in the distribution. Lee Dela Cerna
