A flag-raising ceremony along with the flag colors of Cebu’s 51 municipalities ushered in a simple but fitting affair marking the province’s 446th Founding Anniversary.
Provincial Government officials chose no fanfare in keeping with Governor Hilario Davide III’s trademark of simplicity.
Acting Governor Agnes Magpale led municipal mayors and guests in the opening of the agri-fair, one of the highlights of the Capitol event.
The agri-fair showcases products from the participating municipalities that set up their booths Sunday, August 2.
One can find products from the participating municipalities, from fruits, handicraft, processed food, dried fish, footwear, ornamental plants to pottery. This year’s agri-fair, especially with its fresh bangus sold at only Php 100 kilo, is another hit with Capitol employees
Day 1 of the celebration also featured the opening of the Capitol’s mini library at the third floor of the east wing of the legislative building.
Acting Governor Agnes Magpale cut the ceremonial ribbon, witnessed by Provincial Board members and department heads.
The mini library serves as research center for Capitol and non-Capitol employees and can accommodate only eight persons at any given time.
As of now, the facility does not yet have a librarian, which is why books and other library materials are not for taking out, besides its limited number.
Another highlight was the exhibit featuring the provincial board members and the accomplishments of their respective offices.
