Capitol Medical Mission goes North

To improve lives by providing health services and medical assistance, the Cebu Provincial Capitol together with the local government unit in the municipality of Sogod and Borbon successfully held another medical mission, this time in North Cebu.

Held at the Sogod Sports Center last March 12, 2013, almost 1000 people including senior citizens, children and married individuals attended the drive. The Sogodanons were grateful to the governor for being the lucky recipients of free medical services. The medical mission, under the guidance of Acting Governor Agnes Magpale, aimed to help the people in the province who are in need of assistance concerning their health problems. Check-ups, dental services, and free medicines are some of the benefits given during the mission. In addition, there are also laboratory tests like Blood Test, RBS, Cholesterol and Urinalysis. The medical team composed of doctors, nurses and the organizers worked tirelessly throughout the day.

“The medical mission gives opportunity to the people of Sogod, especially the less fortunate ones,” said Hon. Moonyeen Durano.

After Sogod, the medical mission headed farther north to Brgy. Don Gregorio Antigua in the Municipality of Borbon. Some 2000 Borbonanons benefited from the mission’s dental services, operation tuli (“Circumcision”) and free laboratory exams last March 15, 2013. The Provincial Health office and DOH likewise doled out vitamins, anti-biotics and other medicines to the denizens.

There were many volunteers who shared their time to make the event successful. Joining them were the provincial doctors and nurses who lent their expertise in support of the mission. The people of Borbon were glad and thankful for their assistance.
The medical mission is a project of the Provincial Capitol, providing free health services as well as promoting healthcare in local communities and the larger public.
