Governor Hilario P. Davide III, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, and Provincial Board (PB) Members Miguel Antonio Magpale and Jude Thaddeus Durano-Sybico led the ceremonial ribbon cutting for the projects.
These include the concreting of 300-meter Sitio Kalubuhan-Sitio Colo road in Barangay Damolog and a drainage project in Barangay Kalumboyan. The province funded all these.
Mayor Lisa Marie “Monyeen” Durano-Estreegan thanked Governor Davide for the projects saying the governor has been very supportive of the town since he took over his post last year.
Vice Mayor Richard Estreegan, the mayor’s husband was also present during the activity.
“Dako nakong kalipay ug kanatong tanan ngasukadniadtong 1975 nakita na nato nang karsada nga wala gyud ma semento. Unya mo agi ang atong karo dinha maglisud tag duot, kada tuig ta mag-ilisug ligid,” said Barangay Captain Analiza Coloscos.
The governor was very happy with the warm reception showed by the people in the two barangays especially the day care children who greeted him and his party in the streets.
He, however, discouraged the gesture. But Coloscos said the children were also the beneficiaries of the project because their school is located along the newly concreted street, which was estimated to cost P1.5 million.
All the barangay captains in Sogod attended the activities. Gov. Davide announced that their requests for financial assistance were already “good as approved.” Xerxes Alkuino
