Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale led the distribution of cash incentives to barangay workers, including the financial assistance to barangay chief executives in the towns of Oslob, Boljoon and Alcoy on Tuesday this week.
“Gamay ra ning among ihatag ni Gov. Davide apan gikan ni sa among kasing-kasing,” said Magpale.
As part of acknowledging the personnel’s effort, Capitol disbursed a total of P1.526 million for barangay health workers (BHW), tanods, members of Lupong Tagapamayapa, barangay nutrition scholars and day care workers in these towns.
Moreover, a sum of P1.090 million-worth of cash assistance were also given to nine hinterland barangays: five in Oslob, three in Boljoon, and barangay Nug-as in Alcoy.
The assistance, according to Davide, will be used to acquire emergency vehicles.
Davide said these vehicles will enhance the responders’ mobility during emergency situations especially in the middle of the night.
For those barangays who already have one, the cash assistance can be used for other community purposes, Davide explained.
In Oslob town, the Capitol top ranks joined town mayor Jun Tumulak in giving out a sum of P500,000 to barangay Mainit; P150,000 to barangay Calumpang; P160,000 to barangay Cansaloay; P30,000 to barangay Lagunde; and P150,000 to barangay Pungtod.
In Boljoon, mayor Merlou Derama called on stage barangay leaders and treasurers of barangays Nangka, Lower Becerril and San Antonio. Each of the village got P150,000 in check.
In Alcoy town, mayor Michael Sistoso extended assistance to the governor and vice governor as they distributed the incentives and assistance to barangay workers and barangay leaders.
