Local organizing committees and committee heads have already been finalized in preparation for the upcoming series of ministerial meetings of the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Cebu Provincial Tourism Office head Grace Paulino shared this after the recent local organizing team’s meeting with Governor Hilario P. Davide III at the Provincial Capitol.
Also present in the meeting were representatives from the Department of Tourism, Department of Public Works and Highways, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Lapu-Lapu City Government.
APEC 2015 national organizing committee (NOC) has a total of eight committees dedicated to prepare and ensure the success of APEC meetings in the Philippines.
These include committees for conference services, operations, security, and media operations, among others.
The team unanimously appointed Paulino to head the local committee on conference services; Administration Assistant Atty. Ramil Abing for local committee on operations; Senior Superintendent Erson Digal of PRO 7 for committee on security; and Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera for the committee on media operations.
Paulino continued that with finalized local committees, the team will proceed to identify the sub-committee heads for each committee.
She explained that local committees have only just been finalized now after the organizational chart of NOC has been finally fixed.
“We’re depending on the organizational chart of the NOC as we only mirror what they have,” said Paulino.
The Cebu Provincial Government, in coordination with other government agencies and the private sector, started preparing for the 2015 APEC Summit last year.
Ministerial meetings on Finance and Energy are set to be held in Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Mactan Island on September 9-11 and October 12-14, respectively.
Structural Reform and Transportation ministerial meetings will be held in Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City on September 7-8 and October 8-10, respectively.
“We are very much ready. It’s just that we have to identify the point persons for the areas concerned,” explained Paulino.
She said the team agreed to meet every two weeks for updating on all aspects of the preparation, such as security matters, road network, utility, and social events.
