Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III with Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) chief Mary Rose Vincoy distributed kits of artificial insemination (AI) equipment to 49 AI technicians from different towns and cities of Cebu Province.
Recipients include towns of Bantayan, Catmon, Sibonga, San Remigio, Naga, San Francisco and the city of Danao.
Each AI kit, amounting to almost Php10,000, consisted of two AI guns and one thermos with thermometer and retriever.
The distribution of AI equipment is part of Gov. Davide’s support in making the province self-sufficient in its dairy and cattle production. This is the first time that the Provincial Government distributed AI equipment to LGUs.
“When it comes to agri-vet, the Governor is very supportive. We are thankful he made this one of his priority agenda,” Vincoy expressed during the ceremony.
The distribution of AI equipment is in line with Gov. Davide’s six-key development agenda to help spur economic activities in the rural areas especially in farming and fishing.
Meanwhile, in the same event, 29 recipients were awarded their certificate of ownership under the goat dispersal program of the Provincial Government.
Also, the PVO distributed veterinary supplies to each municipality and city in Cebu. The vet supplies include de-wormer for large animals such as cows, goats and carabaos; injectable and water-soluble vitamin supplies; and antibiotics for livestocks.
The vet supplies were given through the respective municipal agriculture offices in the province. This is the second batch of vet supplies distribution of the provincial government under the support of Gov. Davide. (Katrina Marie Diaz)
