The Cebu Provincial Government gave certificates of commendation and more than P1.6 million worth of cash incentives to 53 police officers, who have made successful operations against illegal drugs.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Provincial Board Member Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca led the distribution of the awards last June 10 at the Capitol.
At least 1,042.03 grams of shabu were seized in 14 drug operations in the province in the first quarter of the year.
The Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) conducted 12 operations, which yielded 863.09 grams.
The San Fernando Police Station conducted an operation in Barangay Bugho, San Fernando on February 04 and this yielded 168.00 grams. The San Francisco, Camotes Police Station also conducted an operation onMarch 15 and confiscated 11.21 grams of shabu.
Gov. Davide congratulated the police officers for their accomplishment against illegal drugs. He said the giving of cash incentives will continue as one of the administration’s priority agenda.
The governor commented on the decrease of price of shabu in the province lately amidst various drug raids conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
He believes that the pronouncement of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s firm stand against illegal drugs has inspired the raids countrywide.
Both Police Regional Office 7 Director Chief Superintendent Patrocinio Commendador and CPPO Director Senio Superintendent Clifford Gairanod admitted that some PNP personnel are protecting drug lords or involved in illegal drug trade.
Commendador assured that they will cleanse their ranks simultaneously with their anti-illegal drug operations.
