Over a hundred residents of Barangay Puente, Carmen and its neighboring places availed of health services last May 6 at the barangay hall and sports center. The one day medical and dental mission was spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office in cooperation with the Carmen Rural Health Unit.
Eighty patients availed of free consultation, Many had their blood pressures and weights taken, 37 had tooth extraction, eight had their blood sugar checked, eight had their cholesterol levels known, 12 had pre-natal check-ups, 24 infants aged 0-1 year old had their regular immunization, and 55 boys availed of the free circumcision while on vacation from school.
Free medicines, including both oral and topical antibiotics, relievers for anti-hypertension, anti-diabetes and pain, vitamins, were dispensed.
The medical and dental mission team led by Dr. Manuel Purog was composed of Evelyn Familgan, Leonides Manatad, Marilyn Sua-an, Felito Villa, Cynthia Pangatungan, Naomi Espinosa, Elena Malosbalos, Jesus Banal, Dr. Glomaris Comendador, Dr. Sandra Cabello, Dr. Nina Basa, Dr. Jane Pisiao, Dr. Hayle Cuyos, and Ian Salve.
Dr. Joel Yu of the Juan Dosado Hospital in Sogod was also on hand to lend his services. Earl Ryan Santiago documented the event for the Provincial Information Office.
Carmen Municipal Health Officer Elmer Batao led his team composed of Lourdes Cabahug, Paulina Peralta, Chita Manguilimotan, Judy Cardenes, Ma. Luz Alarin, Jovelyn Jayson, Carlene Marie Cabahug, Penelope Aun Buot, Paul Ian Flores, Jonnel Tungal, and Joel Abarquez.
Brgy. Captain Marcelo Patindol, his council and staff were on hand to lend assistance.
