The Cebu Provincial Government received P500,000 donation from the city government of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur, showing solidarity after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Cebu and Bohol last October 15.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale received the assistance from Bayugan City Mayor Kim Lope Asis, who personally turned over the amount at the Capitol last Wednesday, November 6.
Provincial Board (PB) Member Miguel Antonio Magpale also accompanied Asis, who also extended financial assistance in Bohol.
“Pasalamat ta ug dako nila sa ilang hinabang,” said Davide when asked by the media about the donation.
The vice governor added that they could have met each other in a better time. She told Asis that they would find time to also visit Bayugan.
Two weeks ago, the provincial government of Albay also handed in P500,000 financial assistance for the earthquake victims. Davao City,through Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, also personally visited the provincial Capitol to give their five million-peso donation distributed to 10 local government units in Cebu including Cebu City. Each of them received P500,000.
Last Week, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority through its general manager Nigel Paul Villarete, also handed in their P1 million donation to Cebu province. (Xerxes Alkuino)
