Aloguinsan brgy. installs water system

“Dako og kahimu-an kung ang mga namuno magtinabangay alang sa kaayuhan sa tanan.”

This was part of Provincial Board member Alex Binghay’s speech at the recent inauguration of the water system in Barangay Angilan, municipality of Aloguinsan. He emphasized on the positive results on the constituents when leaders work together.

The source of water from the town proper could not reach the community that is settled at the mountainous part of Aloguinsan.

“Mas bali pa nako nga walay kuryente basta naa lang mi tubig nga limpyo (I would rather not have electricity as long as we have clean water),” said Rubely Oton, one of the beneficiaries of the project.

Barangay Captain Lorenzo Mainit explained that the water system costs around P400,000 and it  has been serving 75 households for a couple of months.

Mainit thanked the Cebu Provincial Government for fulfilling their long-time dream of having their own submersible pump.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale asked the residents in the community to take good care of the new pump so it would serve them for a long time.

_MG_0883Magpale also expressed her plan to provide a water tank for the barangay to cater to more families.

“The water system do not just serve the 75 households. It also provided water to the Anilan Elementary School with 600 pupils and 15 teachers,” said senior teacher Proserpina Patatag.

Patatag who’s been teaching for 26 years thanked the people behind the project, “Mapasalamaton kaayo mi mga maestra sa water system kay importante kaayo ang tubig ilabi na sa pagbaton og kalimpyo sa tunghaan (We are thankful to the people behind the project since water is vey necessary especially in maintaining cleanliness in the school).”

Marcel Obtina, another beneficiary, expressed her gratitude to the officials in the barangay for seeing the need of having a water pump.

“Bisan naay huwaw, kusog ang among tubig dinhi. Mas gaan na karon ang gimbuhaton nga may kalambigitan sa tubig kay dili na mi magsige og hakot sa bukal (Despite the prolonged drought brought by El Niño, we have abundant source of water. Some chores that need water are easily done since we no longer need to fetch water from the spring),” Obtina explained.

“Gawas sa pag-abag sa Kapitolyo alang sa katumanan sa among water system dinhi, mitabang usab ang gobyerno dinhi sa Aloguinsan. Nakita gyud namo ang maayong resulta kung adunay pagtinabangay ang tanan (Aside from the help from the Capitol, the government of Aloguinsan also provided us help. We have seen good results of united leaders working together),” said Barangay Treasurer Merlita Milgo.

The water collection every month is around P12,000, which is used for the maintenance of the water system.
