Residents of Barangay Lepanto in Alegria joined and welcomed Capitol, municipal and barangay officials in the inauguration and blessing of their newly built multi-purpose building last June 23.
The multi-purpose building or commonly known as “covered court” was built using national funds through Department of Public and Highways (DPWH) in collaboration with the provincial government with a total budget of Php 1.9 million.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice-governor Agnes Magpale were very pleased of the resident’s feedback and recognized the efforts of government officials.
“Nalipay kaayo mi og ampingi ninyo kini nga covered court,” Davide said.
In his address, 2nd district Representative Wilfredo Caminero recalled of his visit to Barangay Lepanto more than two years ago together with Davide, Magpale and provincial board members. They spoke before the barangay residents who were scorching under the heat of the sun.
“Didto namugna ang usa ka saad nga di ta magtapok diri balik ug utro kung dili kita matabunan sa init man o sa ulan (It was the time when the promise to build a cover for the people against heat and rain during gatherings),” Caminero said.
“Ang atong panag-kauban, pagtambayayong ug panagsabot maoy nakahatag ug katumaman sa usa ka damgo. Ang pundasyon gyud ani mao ang pagtinabangay (Our unity has contributed to the realization of a dream. The foundation of this structure is our unity),” he added.
Barangay chief Juan Medel was very grateful for the multi-purpose building since it made the residents very happy. For the residents, their wish was fulfilled.
“Tanan tawo sa barangay Lepanto pwerteng lipaya aning natukod nga covered court, bata man o tigulang , kay dako gyud ning matabang sa barangay (All are very happy that a covered court was finally built. It is a big help for all, young and old),” Medel said.
Davide and Magpale led the inaugural rites together with provincial board members Christopher Baricuatro and Peter John Calderon, Caminero, Alegria Mayor Verna Magallon, and barangay officials.
