Some 34 women fisherfolks in the municipality of Barili can now help augment the family income after attending the two-day Agri-Fishery Food Processing workshop seminar recently.
Officer-in-Charge Provincial Agriculturist Roldan H. Saragena disclosed that three of his Agriculture Technicians conducted the two day seminar at Barangay Candugay in Barili. The specialists shared their knowledge pertaining to the proper preparations of chorizo, tocino, fish nuggets, camote toron, poto cheese and squash maja.
The said seminar workshop, considered as one of the Livelihood projects of the Provincial Agriculturist office, was requested by Barangay Capt. Dennis Morales and financed by the barangay funds in coordination with some barangay officials. It was held at the barangay’s covered court and conducted by Agriculture technicians Teresita Bargayo, Maria Teresa Abella and Virginia Rosell.
With the new knowledge imparted to them by the PA staff, the women fisherfolks in the said barangay are now assured of more income for their families in support of their husband who earned their living through fishing. (Ramon Gallardo)
