A container van containing about 240 boxes of endangered marine species/budjong were seized this afternoon by a joint team from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Bureau of Fisheries and Natural Resources (BFAR) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
An unnamed informant gave PENRO a tip of a shipment from Zamboanga carrying the budjong shells. The search warrant was issued by Judge Sylva Paderanga of RTC Branch 28. The shipment of these endangered shells is prohibited under RA 8550 of the Fisheries Code of 1998.
