The Cebu Provincial Government through Public Employment Service Office (PESO) held an Overseas Job Fair at the Capitol Social Hall on June 26.
More than a thousand applicants were present during the event.
Labor and Employment Officer III Julius M. Chua said that there were at least 30 licensed agencies that partnered with them, such as the National Bureau of Investigation and National Statistics Office.
A total of 18, 326 job vacancies were offered, 1,798 applicants registered, 1,708 interviewed and 59 hired on the spot.
Moreover, there were also 2,793 applicants considered for final interview by the employer (agency), 85 recommended for medical exam and 370 considered for other vacancies.
On the other hand, other applicants were asked to come back due to lack of documents needed by the agencies they are applying for.
Chua said that walk-in applicants were not able to bring the complete requirements needed for applying the job so they were told to pass them the next day.
“As much as possible, dawaton tanan ang applicants. Dili kinahanglan na graduate jod ug college (As much as possible, we accept all the applicants. It is not necessary to be college graduates),” he answered when asked for the number of applicants the fair could accept.
